My Story
I was born and raised in the small town called Cullman, Alabama. Growing up in this town allowed me to be subjected to many aspects of agriculture. I grew up in the garden picking vegetables with my grandmother, I helped my uncle bale hay and round up cows, I helped my uncle raise meat for our family and was able to see how important this life is. While growing up in this town, poultry houses were everywhere and that soon sparked an interest and I began raising Bantam chickens for shows. I had around 500 birds ranging from Cochins to Silver Laced Wyandottes to Millefleurs to Silkies and even to Show Girls. I showed mostly in the state of Alabama but I did travel some to Tennessee. I raised these birds from the parents and had two incubators for different stages and had a large brooder where they stayed until being sold or being of age to breed. Raising these birds helped open my eyes into the poultry industry and sparked my desire to go into poultry science.
